The ability to record has become so readily available, so conveniently added to ubiquitous mobile devices, that it has become second-nature to want to record any memorable event. The intention of video recording has shifted from shooting a movie to merely the act of collecting moments. As the temptation to reach for the pocket video recorder increases, the more it becomes apparent that the experience of memorable events will and must be mediated by a screen. As we increasingly position a screen between ourselves and phenomena, we extend the virtual aesthetic and experience into the physical world. Every moment is always already displaced and in the past.
